WWF and CAWM Collaboration on Innovative Wildlife Credits Program in Northern Tanzania

Prof. Noah Sitati, Program Lead - Tanzania from WWF, Tanzania -Southern Kenya Northern Tanzania (SOKNOT) Landscape Transboundary Program, visited the College today to discuss partnership opportunities for establishing a transparent platform for the disbursement of payments and grievance redressal for the Wildlife Credits Project in the Northern Tanzania Landscape.

During the meeting, the Rector affirmed the College's readiness to collaborate with WWF in developing this innovative platform. The wildlife credits program aims to incentivize communities to protect and conserve wildlife and its habitat by providing performance payments directly to those who actively engage in conservation efforts. This approach addresses challenges such as illegal hunting, deforestation, and human-wildlife conflict, while creating tangible opportunities for smart conservation.
