The College Plans for Zanzibar Expansion
The College of African Wildlife Management, Mweka, is planning to expand its training and services to Zanzibar. This initiative was revealed by Prof. Wahabu Kimaro, Deputy Rector for Planning, Finance, and Administration, during his visit to the Ministry of Tourism and Heritage in Zanzibar.
Prof. Kimaro held a meeting with Dr. Aboud Suleiman Jumbe, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, where they discussed the comprehensive range of courses offered by the College. The discussions also focused on potential collaborations in research and consultancy aimed at enhancing educational opportunities and supporting Zanzibar’s tourism sector.
Dr. Jumbe expressed particular interest in the College's courses on Captive Wildlife Management and Taxidermy, noting their potential to train local experts in conservation and preservation techniques. He also emphasized the importance of integrating traditional Zanzibari cultural elements into the curriculum to promote sustainable tourism practices and preserve heritage sites.
