Sub-Theme 4: Risks: Preparedness for wildlife conservation and tourism risks

Wildlife conservation is increasingly confronted with a broad range of calamities, including those exacerbated by the effects of global climatic changes. These have, and continue to variably but adversely affect the performance of both wildlife conservation and its closely related tourism industry, but the issue at hand is that Africa remains ill prepared on how best to cope with them. This theme will highlight on the contemporary and potential risks and uncertainties facing wildlife conservation in Africa and, banking on best practices, explore and domesticate the best coping mechanisms across the African continent.

  • Adopting coping mechanisms for tourism-related risks
  • Promoting adaptation to climate change in wildlife conservation
  • Strengthening risk preparedness in wildlife conservation
